Jacoba, installed as 3rd NEUST President

Dr.Feliciana Pascual-Jacoba who was elected
on February 10, 2016 as the 3rd President of the Nueva Ecija University of
Science and Technology (NEUST), Cabanatuan City, was formally installed into
office in a fitting investiture ceremony on September 8, 2016.
A mechanical engineer by profession,
Pres. Jacoba is a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree holder. She succeeded Dr. Gemiliano C. Calling and
Dr. Hilario C. Ortiz, the first and second presidents of the university,
The investiture ceremony was preceded by a Concelebrated Mass presided by Most Rev.
Sofronio A. Bancud, SSS, DD., Bishop of the Diocese of Cabanatuan, together
with four priests of the diocese.
Gracing Pres. Jacoba's investiture rites were CHED Commissioner Ruperto S. Sangalang,
representing CHED Chairperson Patricia B. Licuanan, CHED Region III Director
Caridad O. Abuan, DOST Region III Director Julius Caesar V. Sicat, NEDA Region
III Director Severino C. Santos, and other members of the NEUST Board of
Regents, Nueva Ecija Provincial Administrator Alejandro R. Abesamis
representing Governor Czarina â€œCherryâ€ D. Umali, Representative Rosana â€œRiaâ€
Vergara of the 3rd Congressional District of Nueva Ecija, Cabanatuan
City Mayor Julius Cesar V. Vergara and other LGU officials in Nueva Ecija,
presidents of the State Universities and Colleges in Region III, presidents of private
schools, colleges and universities in the city, officials and representatives
of DepEd and other NGOs and other invited guests, together with the officials,
faculty members, non-teaching personnel
and students of NEUST.
Born on November 20, 1966 in
Cabanatuan City, Dr. Jacoba finished her elementary education in 1979 as
valedictorian. She took her secondary education at Mount Carmel College, Baler,
Aurora, where she graduated second honorable mention in 1983. She pursued her
tertiary education at the then Central Luzon Polytechnic College (now NEUST)
where she finished in 1988 her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
degree, cum laude, and was conferred an
Outstanding BSME Student Award.
Her colorful journey as an
educator in NEUST started in 1990 as a part-time faculty member. In three yearsâ€™ time, she was able to prove her
prowess for which she was given an opportunity to serve the University as an
Instructor from 1993 to 1997. Soon after, she was promoted as assistant
professor from 1997 to 2005, as associate professor from 2005 to 2012 when she
became the Dean of the Graduate School, and as Professor IV from 2012 to 2015
when she became the Vice President for Research, Extension and Training and
concurrently as SUC Vice President III.
She is happily married to Mr. Danilo Maano Jacoba with whom she has three (3)
children: Patrice Kyla, Lance Adrian and Danielle Ira.
Dr. Jacoba will
go down in history as the very first woman president of the only science and
technology university in the whole province of Nueva Ecija.
