The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) has further solidified its international presence as it earned the First Runner-Up distinction in the Best ASEAN Awareness Initiative category of the Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2025.
Received by NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo during the ceremony on December 10, 2025, at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, this recognition underscores the Universityโs unwavering dedication to strengthening internationalization and expanding its visibility across the ASEAN region.
Spearheaded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the ICONS Awards celebrate Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that demonstrate excellence in global rankings, sustainability practices, ASEAN awareness, and internationalization initiatives.
In her message, CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley Agrupis emphasized the transformative role of internationalization, stating that โInternationalization is no longer peripheral; it is an operational requirement for relevance, competitiveness, and long-term national development.โ
She further encouraged HEI leaders to view this recognition as both validation of current achievements and motivation to pursue even more ambitious goals for their institutions, students, and the country.
NEUST was also honored by CHED for its notable performance in global university rankings this year, having secured placements in both the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings and the World University Rankings for Innovationโanother testament to the Universityโs growing international visibility and commitment to sustainable, globally competitive education.
