                Alternative medicine especially those from natural substances has been the mainstream therapeutic practices nowadays. Herbal remedies from plants are used to cure common illness such as fever, cough, cold, flu rheumatism, and even hypertension or high blood pressure. It is believed that these unconventional medicines are much cheaper compared with the commercial drugs being sold.

                The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the alcoholic extracts and the isolated indole alkaloids from the stem and leaves of pandakaki-puti (Tabernaemontana pandacaqui poir.) as anti-inflammatory agent.

                The true-experimental method of research was used in conducting the study.

                The isolated indole alkaloids from the stem and leaves of pandakaki-puti (Tabernaemontana pandacaqui poir.) yields 6.62g and 19.84g that have a weight percentage recovery of 36% for the first plant part and 56% for the latter, respectively.

                Infrared analysis of the aforementioned isolates from the stem and leaves gave an observable peaks at 3400.02cm-and 3403.09cm-which confirms N-H stretch, 1201.30cm-and 1202.60cm- for C-N stretch, 3043.85cm- and 3046.72cm- for =C-H stretch, and four sharp absorptions at 1613.50cm-, 1578.20cm-, 1497.03- for stem and 1613.90cm,1579.04cm-, 1496.95-,1454.60cm-for leaves on the C=C ring absorptions.

                Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy were used and confirmed that the isolated compounds from stem and leaves are indole alkaloid.

                One-Way-analysis of Variance: Complete Randomized Design (ANOVA-CRD) Factorial (a x b) with Additional Treatments ( +, - ) was employed and found that there is significant difference between and among the treatment means of extracts; isolates and indole alkaloid with different dosages and concentrations.

                At a dosage of 1mg per gram body weight of the test mice, the crude extract from stem and leaves reduced carrageenan-induced inflammation by 74.04% and 76,08%. More activities form isolates 2 of comun fraction 85:15 ethyl acetate: methanol was observed, with the highest inhibition of 89.5% and 90.7% from the stem and leaves.

                The highest mean percent inhibition was obtained at 93.9% and 94.68% from the stem and leaves with concentration of 100:0 indole alkaloid: distilled water and dosage of 0.05mg/g body weight of the mice.

                These observations indicate anti-inflammatory activity of indole alkaloid isolated from plant parts of pandakaki-puti(Tabernaemontana pandacaqui poir.).

                It is further recommended that other parts of the plants may be investigated aside from the stems and leaves and further determination on the toxicity level and mortality rates of the said plants be conducted.

                One of the most common problems of electric power utilization is voltage fluctuations (a sudden rise and drop of terminal supply voltage) and short circuit.

                Abnormalities like these can be very destructive in the loads and can lead to a reduction of the services life of the equipment and the maintenance become much higher.

                The research project aimed at designing and constructing a device intended primarily to protect electrically – driven equipment form abnormal line condition such as intermittent power failure, short circuit, and fluctuation in input voltage.

                The R and D Cycle method of research was used in conducting the study where initial baseline data information was collected. After the search has been done, the design has been finally conceptualized and developed. The performance of the device was then tested and evaluated for its intended use as a load protection against abnormalities mentioned.

                Power Transient Trap is very useful device in protecting the power loads and monitoring the power lines of the system against intermittent voltage, line surge inside and outside the system. It shuts down the power loads when it senses abnormal voltage of less than 180V or greater than 230V.

                It is reliable in system protection because of the voltage comparator circuit that monitors the flow of current that enters the system. Each loads are provide with delayed switching circuit in sequence to prevent the simultaneous switching of the load that can create abrupt voltage drop that can affect the main control circuit.

                Furthermore, a power saving device which stabilize the power first before switching the load automatically thereby preventing the intermittent start up of the motor during power interruption that cost a high power consumption.

                As can be noted, this device can be readily replicated due to the availability of low cost components and simplicity of design. Its main contribution to the advancement of science and technology can be viewed on the context that as advances and development in technology utilization are happening in leaps and bounds, there exists an appropriate technology for their protection and safe operation.
