On September 5, 2024, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Education (COED), in collaboration with Resources for the Blind Inc., organized a seminar titled โ€œBasic Braille Literacy and Orientation and Mobilityโ€ at Nieto Hall, NEUST Sumacab Campus.

The seminar featured experts from Resources for the Blind Inc., who delivered insightful presentations on Braille literacy, orientation, mobility skills, and strategies for supporting visually impaired individuals. These sessions aimed to equip the COED faculty with knowledge on how to address the specific needs of blind students, ensuring safe navigation and adapting educational methods to cater to their learning requirements.

Dr. Jo Neil T. Peria, Dean of the College of Education, welcomed the participants and expressed his gratitude to the resource persons and all the organizers of the seminar. He emphasized the importance of this training, particularly for institutions like NEUST that are committed to supporting individuals with disabilities. Dr. Peria highlighted the significance of focusing on Braille literacy, orientation, and mobility skills, as these are critical in fostering an inclusive educational environment. He reiterated the universityโ€™s dedication to ensuring that persons with disabilities receive the necessary support to thrive academically.

The seminar was primarily designed to equip faculty members with essential skills in Braille literacy, improving their ability to assist visually impaired students.
