On October 22, 2024, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) and the Department of Education (DepEd) School Division Office of Nueva Ecija and Cabanatuan City formalized a partnership through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) aimed at enhancing teacher training and improving educational standards in the region. The signing ceremony took place at NEUSTβs Mini Convention Center, Sumacab Campus.
Under this agreement, NEUSTβs College of Education (COED) will implement an experiential learning program as part of the Faculty-Student Exchange Program. This initiative will provide local and international Teacher Interns (TIs) with practical teaching experiences in real classroom environments. By applying theoretical knowledge, developing classroom management skills, and adapting instructional strategies, Teacher Interns will be better prepared to meet the demands of contemporary education.
In her message, Dr. Jugo emphasized that one of the foundational pillars of her administration, guided by the NEUST GLOBAL framework, is “Bridging Communities.” She identified the MOA as a testament to this commitment, underscoring NEUST’s dedication to supporting not only the nation but also the City of Cabanatuan and the province of Nueva Ecija. Dr. Jugo articulated that NEUST views this partnership as part of a long-term support strategy, promising to utilize world-class knowledge and solutions from the universityβs experts and practitioners to facilitate significant educational advancements.
The experiential learning program will focus on equipping Teacher Interns with the skills to adapt to diverse instructional needs and develop effective classroom management techniques. Both Teacher Interns and faculty supervisors will have controlled access to essential information, ensuring compliance with educational standards while safeguarding privacy. Experienced cooperating teachers will provide mentorship to Teacher Interns, fostering their long-term professional development.
This partnership reinforces NEUST and DepEdβs commitment to cultivating skilled, community-centered educators and promoting educational advancements throughout the region.
