Intending to continue to bridge the gap between the academe, government, and industry by fostering collaboration, the DOST-NEUST Technology Business Incubator (TBI) successfully conducted its 2nd TEKNOVATION EXPO on August 28-30, 2024, at the Nieto Hall, NEUST Sumacab Campus joined by the students, faculty members, entrepreneurs, technology innovators, researchers, industry leaders, and representatives from agencies from the academe, government, and industry sectors.
The 3-day event kicked off with a โDesign Thinkingโ workshop where startup companies and products were presented to students and faculty researchers to cultivate research ideas focused on problem-product solutions that fulfill SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
12 research ideas and technologies crafted by NUEST students and faculty were presented during the โPitchingโ program on the second day of the exposition for possible collaborations with industries and government agencies. These projects were evaluated by industry experts and government agency leaders for their innovativeness, market potential, visibility, business model, and the proponentsโ mastery of their researchโwhich explored its quality and feasibility.
As NEUST President Dr. Rhodora R. Jugo delivered her speech, she highlighted the importance of these kinds of initiatives in bringing positive impacts to the community by creating a unique synergy between and among the government, education sector, and the industry.
A Central Luzon Technology Transfer Forum was held on the third day– a scheme collaborated by DOST-NEUST TBI, Central Luzon Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (CLIEERDEC), Technological Hive of Regional Innovation for a Vibrant Ecosystem (THRIVE) Regional Inclusive Innovation Center- Region III, and SULONG Central Luzon Start-up Consortium designed to intensify the facilitation of the innovative technologies transfer from institutions into the โreal-worldโ setting.
Participated by representatives from public and private agencies across Region III, the event concluded with a panel discussion that dwelled into the effectiveness of technology transfer offices, consortia, and incubators across the country in bridging the gap between the academe, industry, and the government; the domino effect of technology innovation; challenges faced by researchers and start-up projects; strategies on technology modernization; innovation policies; and the macro perspective of research collaborations, including the industries and the government provision of training and funding for research studies, among others; and the collaborationsโ impact to the community as a whole.
These initiatives stimulate the NEUSTโs goal of being GLOBAL by building a vibrant research and innovation ecosystem.
