The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) Research, Extension, and Training (RET) Department, in collaboration with the Central Luzon Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (CLIEERDEC) and Thrive Central Luzon based at Bulacan State University (BulSU), hosted the 1st Regional Research, Innovation, and Extension Exposition on October 10-11, 2024, at Mini Convention Center, NEUST Sumacab Campus.

Under the theme “From Local Insights to Global Impact,” this inaugural regional expo brought together innovators, esteemed leaders in research and extension, representatives from both public and private sectors, industry partners, and entrepreneurs from across Region III. Participants showcased their innovative projects and services while engaging with distinguished guests, including Ms. Rogerine Miguel-Irvine, NEDA Chief Economic Development Specialist; Dr. Lora Yusi, CHED ROIII Regional Director; Ms. Marella Jem Castro, Regional Inclusive Innovation Center III Advisor; Dr. Vivencio R. Mamaril, Department of Agriculture Technical Consultant; Dr. William Padolina, Scientist from the National Academy of Science and Technology; Ms. Mary Michelle M. Quiambao, DOST III Provincial Director; and Dr. Rowena Baconguis, UPLB Professorโ€”who addressed crucial topics such as the Philippines’ innovation ecosystem, the role of CHED in fostering innovation, regional initiatives to empower communities, funding opportunities for research and commercialization, and the challenges and opportunities in promoting equity, inclusivity, and accessibility in addressing societal issues.

The forum also featured several panel discussions focusing on the challenges and opportunities in research and extension services across various sectors, including the Metal Industry, Jewelry Industry, Pyrotechnics, Food, and Creative Sectors.

In her welcome remarks, NEUST President Dr. Rhodora R. Jugo underscored the importance of such events in positioning participants within government agencies, educational institutions, and various industries. She highlighted the significant advancements in research, innovation, and extension projects within Region III, despite the challenges faced by the industry. Dr. Jugo emphasized the region’s potential to make substantial contributions to both national and global landscapes.

This Regional Expo exemplifies NEUSTโ€™s commitment to advancing academic excellence and societal contribution through impactful research, innovation, and extension services.
