As the university continues to prioritize the welfare of its stakeholders, better services and initiatives on mental health are underway as the two (2) unit heads under the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) finished a six-month post-graduate certificate on mental health.
Mary Claire Calura, Head of the Guidance and Counseling Office, and Karen Jann Aquino, Head of the Psychological Testing Office, completed their Post-Graduate Certificate in School-Based Program for Mental Health offered by Miriam College through the Commission on Higher Education’s Continuing Professional Development Studies Grant (CPDSG).
As University scholars, Calura and Aquino took the certificate course that focused on early identification and intervention of mental health issues, human-centered education approaches, coaching, counseling, and strategies designed to promote emotional well-being.
With this, the two (2) unit heads are set to offer the said school-based program across NEUST campuses to address the growing demand for mental health support within the University.
Dr. Rhodora R. Jugo, University President, commended Calura and Aquino for this achievement and their dedication to mental health.
Other University officials including Engr. Feliciana Jacoba, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Atty. Bembol Castillo, Vice President for Administration, Business, and Finance, and Legal Officer; and Dr. Ma. Lourdes R. Quijano, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs and Services, also congratulated the OSAS unit heads for their commitment to fostering a culture of care and inclusivity at NEUST.
