To capacitate NEUST in sharing its health research outputs, NEUST officials and faculty members of the College of Nursing (CON) trained on using the Health Research and Development Information Network Platform of Unified Research Information Management Systems (HERDIN PLUS) at Rico Fajardo Hall, Sumacab Campus, January 23, 2025.

HERDIN PLUS is a program developed by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) to enhance the country’s largest health research database and empower stakeholders in managing and disseminating credible health research information.

Dr. Jean Guillasper, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training (VPRET), said that this collaboration with DOST-PCHRD is a step towards creating innovative solutions to address evolving health challenges.

The VPRET also expressed her gratitude to PCHRD for supporting NEUST and emphasized the shared vision of both institutions in using health research to improve lives.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, PCHRD Executive Director, said that health research utilization and dissemination through the HERDIN PLUS play an important role in enriching the content of the integrated research information system, which was developed in 1983.

In addition, Maria Violeta Intia of HERDIN PLUS talked about account creation in HERDIN, system access levels, and the scope and features of the nationwide research database.

One output of the research camp was the approved proposal of NEUST representatives to expand the system to include a categorized research database.

Present during the event were Dr. Zuzette Catabona, Dr. Mario Abesamis, Dr. Arnold Dela Cruz, Dr. Consuelo Estigoy, Dr. Marlon Torres, College of Nursing faculty members, along with HERDIN staff members, Donavie Flores, Angelique Regio, Alyza Ganon, and Grace Ruth Daulat.
