The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Education (COED), in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) School Division of Nueva Ecija (SDO-NE), conducted a seminar-workshop titled “Grade 2 Braille Reading and Writing” on February 28, 2025, at Rico Fajardo Hall, NEUST Sumacab Campus.

The seminar, “Empowering Accessibility: Advancing Braille Literacy for a More Inclusive World,” aimed to enhance students’ understanding of Braille instruction by providing insights into effective teaching strategies for learners with visual impairments and emphasizing the importance of inclusive education.

Ms. Corazon Fraile-Aquino, SPED Teacher III of Talavera Central School and guest speaker, discussed the Unified English Braille chart, demonstrated its applications, and introduced the Perkins Brailler typewriter and the Cranmer abacus, which serves as a tool for students with visual impairments in writing and performing calculations.

A total of 65 third-year students from the Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNE) participated in the event.
