To strengthen the University’s role as a hub for digital transformation and technological advancement in the region, the NEUST has applied to become a Technology for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurs, and Economic Development – Digital Transformation Center (Tech4ED-DTC), through the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

DICT representatives conducted today an ocular inspection of NEUST Technohub Building and Robotics and Data Center at the Sumacab Campus.

Dr. Marlon I. Torres, Director of Management Information System (MIS), emphasized the significance of upgrading facilities and equipment to enhance the university’s digital capabilities across all higher education institution (HEI) functions.

Mr. Jayson Ryan L. Cunanan, DICT Project Development Officer, outlined the application process for DTC accreditation and highlighted the opportunities of partnering with DICT to advance digitalization and innovation.

The assessment findings and necessary documents from the inspection will be forwarded to the DICT Central Office for evaluation.

Dr. Jean N. Guillasper, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training (VPRET), Dr. Arnold Dela Cruz, Dean of the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT), Dr. Marivic Villegas, Director of Extension Services Department, Dr. Marilene Hipolito, Director of Research Services Department, Dr. Gelly Vitug, Head of Innovation and Management Office (IMO), and representatives from Infrastructure and Development Office (IDO) and Building Maintenance and Office of the General and Auxillary Services were present during the evaluation from the DICT delegation, composed of Mr. Cunanan, Mr. Jake Jefferson P. Matillano, Ms. Samantha Lei DL. Garcia, and Ms. Hannah Ruth S. Siababa.

The Tech4ED-DTC is a program of DICT aiming to bridge the digital divide and foster socio-economic development in underserved communities by providing access to ICT equipment, connectivity, and e-government services.
