BSBA, MIS share best practices on business education, information systems

To provide assistance to a local college in Cabanatuan City, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) showcased its best practices and innovations in business education and information systems during a benchmarking activity on March 10, 2024, at the NEUST Sumacab Campus.

The NEUST College of Management and Business Technology (CMBT) and the Management Information System (MIS) shared their best practices to the representatives from the Institute of Business Management (IBM) of Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges, Inc. (MVGFCI).

The benchmarking activity focused on NEUST’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration programs, including Marketing Management, Financial Management, Business Economics, and Human Resource Management, while also examining the operational framework of NEUST’s Management Information System (MIS).

According to Dr. Feliciana Jacoba, Vice President for Academic Affairs, “There are a lot of schools visiting in the university, kase kapag daw po ganon, it is a sign of progress and a sign of trust to the university, hindi naman po kami yung palaging inaasahan sa mga bumibisita sa amin because we are also hoping that we can learn from our visitors, and that is the reciprocity of our friendships.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Sarah Alvarez, CMBT Dean, said in her welcome remarks that “By sharing these good practices, we are also realizing our mandate of providing quality education to our stakeholders, because, in the field of academics, there is no such thing as ka-compete mo yung university na ito.”

Dr. Marlon Torres, MIS Director, provided insights, innovations, and approaches to the visiting MVGFCI officials, saying “We also recognize the importance of partnerships, which is why we are working closely with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to align our ICT programs with national development goals.”

The event also featured a short discussion and a tour of the CMBT and MIS Office facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, office structures, and technical and technological systems.

Dr. Luzviminda R. Bundoc, IBM Dean, expressed her gratitude to NEUST for the knowledge gained that would contribute to enhancing MVGFCI’s academic programs and operational structures as they pursue Level 1 Accreditation. The MVGFCI delegation also included Ms. Shynee Alipio, Ms. Mica Jean Labe, Mr. Alberto Rivera, Mr. Jefferson Domingo, and Engr. Adrian Rodniel.
