The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Medicine (COM) passed the first phase of evaluation for its Doctor of Medicine program during the technical articulation meeting on March 27, 2025.

Dr. Edgardo Ortiz, Dean of the College of Medicine, presented the programโ€™s goals, admission guidelines, curriculum structure, faculty composition, research services, and clinical skills laboratory, among other key components, aligning with the documents submitted to the technical panel.
Dr. Ortiz also addressed questions regarding stakeholder involvement, the participation of experienced professionals, and the support of the Local Government Unit of Cabanatuan in this endeavor.

Meanwhile, NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo emphasized the universityโ€™s dedication to delivering quality medical education in Nueva Ecija and reaffirmed its commitment to excellence.
โ€œThis rigorous process not only ensures that our curriculum meets the highest national and global standards but also affirms our commitment to producing competent, ethical, and compassionate medical professionals,โ€ she stated.

She also highlighted the exclusive Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center (PJGMRMC) as the base hospital.
Meanwhile, Dr. Queenie Dyan Raagas Manuel-Dayrit, head of the Technical Panel for Medicine, confirmed compliance with the requirements set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and emphasized the necessity of establishing a medical program in Nueva Ecija to provide opportunities for aspiring medical professionals in the region.

NEUST Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Feliciana Jacoba, welcomed the positive outcome and expressed confidence in the universityโ€™s ability to move forward with its vision, affirming that this achievement brings the institution closer to realizing its goal.
โ€œWhatever the needs, under the leadership of President Jugo, NEUST will diligently comply with them. We are committed to providing the best quality education that our students deserve,โ€ she stated.

The second phase of the evaluation, scheduled for April 10-11, 2025, will include a site visit and facilities inspection.

The Technical Panel for Medicine comprises Dr. Manuel-Dayrit, Dr. Clarita Maano, and Dr. Zorayda Leopando as technical evaluators, alongside Ms. Shiela Jalbuena and Dr. Mary Ann Gienette Medina, education program specialists.

The evaluation was also attended by key NEUST officials, including Dr. Belinda Gamilla, Lorna Ejar, Dr. Nancy Joy Mangansat, Jenna Mudlong, Engr. Allan Abenoja Jr., and Dr. Arlyn Mendoza.
