Reaffirming its commitment to community service, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), in collaboration with the Nueva Ecija Medical Society and Rotary Club of Cabanatuan West, conducted a medical and dental mission and feeding program on March 27, 2025, in Barangay Calabasa, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.
NEUST Vice President for Administration, Business, and Finance, Atty. Bembol Castillo formally opened the event, followed by messages of support from University President Dr. Rhodora Jugo, Barangay Captain Isagani Sibayan, and Rotary Club of Cabanatuan West President Clark Sarmienta, all emphasizing the importance of community-centered initiatives.
The event offered specialized services in pediatrics, pharmacy, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN), general medical consultation, ophthalmology, and dental care, along with a feeding initiative.
A team of medical professionals, including Dr. Mark Jonathan Padilla, Dr. Sam Raven Andres, Dr. Daryl Calma LeaΓ±o, Dr. Christina Grace Cometa, and Dr. Monalisa Irao, handled medical consultations, while Dr. Gerome Bautista, Dr. Aira Macapagal, and Dr. Jean Punzal led the dental services.
A total of 184 patients received medical assistance, including 49 in ophthalmology, 2 in OB-GYN, 66 in dental care, 47 in general medical consultation, and 20 in pediatrics.
To further support community health, the Rotary Club of Cabanatuan West donated 20 boxes of multivitamins with folic acid and provided prescription glasses to those in need.
This initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Margarita Belinda Gamilla, Head of the NEUST Health Services Unit, and Ms. Mary Claire D. Calura, Head of the NEUST Guidance and Counseling Office.
