NEUST IOLL gathers experts, faculty for BANGKAG 2025 Research Review

The Institute of Language and Literature (IOLL) of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) conducted the BANGKAG: In-House Research Review on April 12, 2025, at the Mini Convention Center, NEUST Sumacab Campus, to present and strengthen research in the fields of language, culture, media, and literature.

BANGKAG 2025 served as a platform for presenting ongoing and completed research in support of NEUST’s goal of promoting research in language and literature.

NEUST President Dr. Rhodora R. Jugo emphasized the role of research in academic development in her message, while Research Services Department Director Dr. Marilene C. Hipolito welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of collaboration.

Led by Dr. Rommel Espejo, IOLL Director, Bangkag featured parallel sessions in English and Filipino, where researchers presented completed studies and proposals in both languages.

In the English session, six (6) completed studies and four (4)  proposals were presented and reviewed by a panel composed of Dr. Alejandro S. Bernardo from the University of Santo Tomas, Dr. Rafael Michael O. Paz from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and Dr. Shirley N. Dita from De La Salle University-Manila, who joined virtually.

Among the completed studies presented in the English category were ChatGPT’s Usability in Expository Writing in AI-Enabled Classrooms: Perceptions of Tertiary Students and Teachers by Nikko J. Domingo; Motivating and Demotivating Factors of Studying Spanish Language among Education Students by Dr. Jonathan L. Mañas; Exploring Students’ Perspectives on Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Writing Tools Through Sequential Explanatory Mixed Method Study by Vlademir T. Turingan; The Art of Gay Lingo: Unveiling Patterns, Morphology, and the Beauty of Understanding Among Diwata-O in Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology by Walter P. Salva; Bridging Regional Gap: A Documentary Analysis on the Philippines’ Language and Culture as an Elective Subject in Higher Education by Andrea F. Cortel; and Reading Proficiency and Perceived Challenges Among High School Students in Capintalan, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija: Basis for Reading Instructional Materials by Suzette DC. Domingo and Marites P. Geronimo.

In the Filipino session, five (5) completed research papers and six (6) proposals were reviewed by Dr. David Michael M. San Juan, Dr. Rowell D. Madula, and Mr. Christopher Bryan A. Concha from De La Salle University-Manila.

Presented studies in the Filipino category included Ang Bantayog ng Unang Sigaw: Daluyan ng Kultura at Pagkakakilanlan ng Novo Ecijano by Dr. Rommel V. Espejo; Pagsusuri sa Salin ng mga Designasyon, Tanggapan, at Yunit sa Pamantasan mula Ingles tungong Filipino: Isang Pagtatangka sa Pagbuo ng Pamantayang Salin sa Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology by Joan-Lei M. Gonzales; Teleseryeng Maria Clara at Ibarra: Isang Feministang Pagsipat by Ronald B. Paderes and Marianne R. De Vera; Ang Papel ng Bayle asin Musika sa Kultura asin Kapiyestahan nin Ligao: Isang Kultural na Pag-aaral by Dr. Higino D. Chavez; and Impluwensya ng Broadcast Media sa Pag-unlad ng Wikang Filipino by Dr. Ma. Lourdes R. Quijano and Jiezel V. Alcantara, MAE.
