NEUST, Vietnam’s VUTE forge academic partnership through virtual MOU signing
The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) and Vietnam’s Vinh University of Technology Education (VUTE) solidified an academic partnership today through a virtual Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony via Zoom.
NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo and VUTE Rector Dr. Pham Huu Truyen formalized the agreement, which aims to enhance collaboration through student and faculty exchanges, joint research, extension programs, training initiatives, and credit transfer arrangements.
In her address, Dr. Jugo underscored NEUST’s commitment to global engagement: “Our deepest desire is to continue shifting the focus of our linkages from a local approach to a global engagement that adopts a more programmatic system. At NEUST, we view our linkages as part of a package of long-term support for our partners.”
She added, “Despite our differences, our respective institutions have a shared goal – to ensure the welfare of our students, faculty, and stakeholders. With our knowledge, information, and resources, we can provide better services for each other and widen our network of support.”
The ceremony was attended onsite by NEUST officials, including Dr. Feliciana Jacoba, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Atty. Gerald Quijano, Director of Atate Campus; and Dr. Vlademir Turingan of the Institute of Linguistics and Literature (IOLL).
The partnership will facilitate exchange programs for students, interns, and faculty; joint research projects and academic publications; collaboration on language training and short-term academic programs; participation in webinars, conferences, and training sessions; credit transfer evaluations and coordination; and opportunities for graduate studies for faculty and staff.
NEUST will implement this partnership through its Atate Campus, College of Management and Business Technology, College of Information Technology, College of Engineering, and Graduate School, collaborating to organize scientific conferences, develop joint academic programs, and advance research in their respective fields.
The collaboration strengthens NEUST’s ASEAN academic ties, provides international exposure for students and faculty, aligns research with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enhances engagement in engineering and technical disciplines, and expands exchange and graduate study pathways.
Concurrently, a NEUST delegation led by Dr. Jacoba is in Vietnam for a Faculty and Student Exchange Program at Nghe An University, reinforcing the institution’s internationalization efforts.
This MOU marks a significant step in NEUST’s commitment to global academic collaboration, providing new avenues for growth and innovation in higher education.
