NEWS| NEUST lauded for being ‘proactive’ during accreditation
The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) concluded the week-long First Survey Visit for the accreditation of five (5) academic programs by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc., noting its ‘proactive’ performance during the weeklong event.
The programs under review included the Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education and the Bachelor of Public Administration Major in Disaster Management at the Sumacab Campus, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing Management and the Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English at the Papaya Off-Campus, and the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship at the San Antonio Off-Campus.
Dr. Genelita Hernandez, AACCUP Overall Coordinator, lauded NEUST for its proactive faculty and staff and for fostering a vibrant and cooperative working environment throughout the visit.
“We appreciate your manifestations of great support in sustaining quality education and achieving excellence in the programs under survey,” she said.
Meanwhile, NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo also shared her appreciation for the accreditors and extended her gratitude to all faculty members, staff, students, and stakeholders who contributed to this milestone.
“Let us always be guided by the principles of excellence and integrity in everything we do. This survey visit is concrete evidence of the habitual integrity leading to the highest quality education and services that the university provides,” President Jugo said.
The comprehensive evaluation covered the following areas: faculty qualifications, curriculum and instruction, student support services, research and extension efforts, physical facilities, and administrative support.
AACCUP accreditors highlighted several strengths observed during the assessment, including the noteworthy performance and professionalism of faculty members, strong administrative and local government support, significant teaching and learning activities, and a firm commitment to quality and effectiveness aligned with CHED standards.
The university was also praised for its commendable dedication to community engagement through extension activities, relevant and high-quality library resources, a strong number of published research outputs, clean and spacious facilities, a holistic approach to education, and a solid ethical foundation embedded in institutional practices.
However, the accreditors also provided recommendations for improvement, such as the need for the intensification of the procurement of updated learning materials and the increase in the publication of research studies at both the national and international levels.
In response, Dr. Jocelyn Cruz, Dean of the NEUST Graduate School, expressed optimism and a strong commitment to further improving academic offerings.
“Rest assured that after this, expect a quality program from NEUST, with a good reputation and image internationally, better student outcomes, improved stability, an increased number of researchers, and enhanced institutional credibility and accreditation status,” she stated.
The official results of the survey visit are expected to be released by AACCUP this July.
The closing program was attended by AACCUP accreditors, NEUST key officials, deans, directors, faculty, and staff, including Atty. Bembol Castillo, Dr. Jean Guillasper, Dr. Analyn Gamit, and President Emeritus Atty. Hilario C. Ortiz.
