To guide the University’s initiatives in embracing emerging technologies, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) conducted a training workshop on robotics assembly and programming at Rico Fajardo Hall, NEUST Sumacab Campus, on April 15, 2025.
Organized by the University Management Information System, this seminar-workshop on robotics is the first installment of the series titled Robotics-themed Emerging Technologies Workshop: Mastering Applications of AI, Robotics, Blockchain, Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity & Beyond.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Marlon Torres, MIS Director, expressed his gratitude to the participants for their commitment to attend despite the distance they had to travel.”Maraming salamat po sa inyong pag-attend, kahit na malayo pa ang pinanggalingan ng iba at kailangan gumising ng maaga para hindi ma-traffic, nandito pa rin kayo. Salamat po,” he said.
This was followed by Dr. Jean Guillasper, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, who emphasized the need for continuous learning and adaptation in the academic and professional fields.
“We need these kinds of seminars and workshops to keep up with our goal to be a smart university. Wag kayo mag sasawa on learning kasi we don’t need to stop learning lalo na ngayon na napaka bilis ng emerging technologies.”
Meanwhile, Mary Ruth Gahuman, LPT, a Technical Specialist Manager, discussed the IT platforms and kits, highlighting their role in education and innovation.
She also covered the key hardware and software components, guided participants through the kit assembly, and introduced basic programming fundamentals.
“Ang goal ko today ay hindi lang ipakita kung paano gamitin ang kits, kundi kung paano magsama ang hardware at software para mag-build ng robots. Mahalaga ring matutunan ang tamang assembly at programming, kasi ‘di lang ‘to technical skill, kundi teamwork at critical thinking,” Gahuman said.
The main event of the program was the technology mini competition, where participants showcased their robot-building and driving skills through a soccer-themed challenge.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Marilou Pascual expressed her appreciation to all attendees and emphasized the value of the workshop in preparing for future advancements in technology.
“We trust that this session has provided a solid foundation for further exploration and engagement with these critical technological advancements. Thank you,” Dr. Pascual said.
The event was attended by faculty and staff from various NEUST campuses.
