NEUST-COED expands global reach via student mobility in Southeast Asia
The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology College of Education (NEUST-COED) continues to promote its global standards through various academic exchange programs with universities in Southeast Asia.
The College of Education mobilized its students by sending future educators to four (4) universities in Indonesia for the 10th Batch of the Southeast Asian Teacher (SEA-Teacher) Project and one (1) university in Vietnam for the student exchange program.
University President Dr. Rhodora Jugo commended the said internationalization initiatives and stressed the importance of global exposure in shaping future educators.
These initiatives, under the leadership of Atty. Eric Claudio, Director of the Office of International Affairs, Dr. Jo Neil Peria, Dean of the College of Education, and Dr. Analiza Tanghal, Internationalization Focal Person, align with NEUST’s vision of being a globally renowned university that nurtures globally competitive educators through cross-border collaborations, enriching both academic and cultural perspectives.
SEA-Teacher Project with Indonesia
NEUST-COED joined the 10th Batch of the SEA-Teacher Project by sending 12 pre-service teachers to Indonesia for their teaching internship.
The participants included Jerico Camua, Jr., (BSED-Social Studies) and Normae De Sixto (BSED-Science) from Sumacab Campus; Jordan Amurao (BSED-English) and Jessica Mallari (BSED-Science) from San Isidro Campus (SIC); Jovelyn Angelo (BSED-Math) and Sheena Lee Sesuca (BSED-English) from Gabaldon Campus; Shekinah Glory Barluan (BSED-English) and Danielle Francisco (BSED-English) from Papaya Off-Campus; John Larry Alcos (BSED-English) and Rey John Gonzales (BSED-English) from Peñaranda Off-Campus; Cariza Mendoza (BEED) from Carranglan Off-Campus; and Reynalyn Estibar (BEED) from Talavera Off-Campus.
Camua, De Sixto, Barluan, and Francisco were assigned at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS); Amurao and Mallari at Universitas Tunas Pembangunan (UTP); Angelo, Sesuca, Alcos, and Gonzales at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP); Mendoza and Estibar at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA).
In a reciprocal arrangement, NEUST-COED hosted 12 Indonesian pre-service teachers from UNS, UMP, and UTP from November 2024 to February 2025, where they observed classes, conducted teaching demonstrations, and engaged in cultural exchange activities across NEUST campuses, including Sumacab, San Isidro, and Gabaldon.
SEA-Teacher Project is an initiative by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) designed to enhance teaching competencies and cultural awareness among future educators in the region.
Student Exchange Program in Vietnam
Meanwhile, five (5) NEUST-COED students participated in an international exchange program at Dong Nai Technology University (DNTU) in Vietnam. paid a courtesy visit to NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo on April 21, 2025.
The delegates included John David Andres, Ramon Ventura Jr., Loizel Gwyneth Sonza, who are taking up BSED-English, and Neil Emilson Santiago under the BSEd-Science from Sumacab Campus, as well as Denille Maverick Erguiza (BSED-English) from San Isidro Campus.
The four (4) teacher interns underwent a three-week program from April 1-18, 2025, to gain international experiences and immersion in academic and cultural learning opportunities.
