The best practices of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) in good governance and the empowerment of non-teaching personnel (NTP) have become a yardstick for Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) during the benchmarking activity held at NEUST Gabaldon Campus on May 26-27, 2025.
The two-day benchmarking activity focused on key NEUST practices in organizational governance, staff development, labor relations, internal communication, community engagement, and personnel empowerment.
“Our practices have an impact [on other institutions] because of the steadfast support of our University, especially President Rhodora Jugo,” said Jomarie Manalus, President of NTPAI. “It’s such an honor and a great privilege for NEUST, particularly for the NEUST Non-Teaching Personnel Association, Inc. (NTPAI), to serve as a benchmark for a prominent SUC like DMMMSU.”
Manalus also credited the achievement to the strong collaboration among NTPAI members and the solid backing of the university administration, saying: “The unity and dedication of our members have yielded meaningful results that now inspire other SUCs.”
Key NEUST officials, including Dr. Franklin Dumayas, Gabaldon Campus Director; Kristel Jenna Ilustre, HRMO; Juvy Jean Pamintuan, Records Officer I; and Rhandelle Santos, Administrative Assistant II, joined the discussion to share insights on effective governance and inclusive staff policies.
The benchmarking visit gathered 84 researchers and administrative staff from DMMMSU’s Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI) Non-Teaching Association, led by its president, Dr. Elizabeth P. Obra.
Through this activity, NEUST reaffirmed its role as a model in promoting transparent governance and inclusive growth, particularly for non-teaching personnel in higher education institutions.
