The College of Criminology (COC) of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) completed a 14-day International Faculty and Student Exchange Program with Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari (UMK) in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, from April 25 to May 8, 2025.

The NEUST delegation consisted of Dr. Cristina Virginia Jimmy Jr., Dean of the COC; faculty members Dr. Clara Carpio, Januaryn Jose Aydinan, and Shirley Ayeo-eo; non-teaching staff Elizabeth Martin; and Bachelor of Science in Criminology students Florence Joy Supnet and Jennivy Duque.

The NEUST participants attended academic lectures and cultural activities focusing on comparative studies of the Philippine and Indonesian legal systems, Correctional Practices, Juvenile Justice, and Laws on the Protection of Women and Children, as well as the Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) class, while NEUST faculty members delivered lectures to undergraduate and graduate students at UMK, where Elizabeth Martin served as the official documenter for the program.

The delegation also visited local courts, fire departments, correctional facilities, Al-Alam Mosque, Toronipa Beach, and Kebun Raya camping ground, and conducted a community outreach activity at SMAN 1 Kendari, presenting sessions on bullying prevention, drug awareness, and sexual abuse prevention.

The exchange concluded with a Closing Ceremony and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing on May 8, 2025, establishing a partnership between NEUSTโ€“COC and UMKโ€“Facultas Hukum that enables future academic and research collaborations and continued faculty and student exchanges.

The student delegates stayed in UM Kendari until May 19 to complete their academic immersion.
