NEUST GS, CICT share best practices on IT programs with CLSU-DIT
The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) through the Graduate School (GS) and the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) shared with the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) Department of Information Technology (DIT) their curriculum development practices and instructional frameworks during a benchmarking activity on June 10, 2025, at the GS Conference Room, NEUST Sumacab Campus.
The visit aimed to explore best practices in data science, artificial intelligence, analytics, research approaches, and student engagement as CLSU works on enhancing its own IT-related curriculum.
The benchmarking activity also served as a platform for institutional collaboration among NEUST GS, CICT, and CLSU-DIT, laying the groundwork for future partnerships in academic and research initiatives.
According to Dr. Jocelyn Cruz, GS Dean, NEUST serves as an ally for other institutions like the CLSU, adding that “We can do so much if we work hand-in-hand.”
For Dr. Maria Isidra Marcos, Chair of the MSIT Program, academic synergy is important: “We are honored to host our colleagues from CLSU. We believe that this exchange of knowledge and best practices will strengthen inter-institutional ties and contribute to the continuous improvement of IT education across institutions.”
For Dr. Arnold Dela Cruz, CICT Dean, there is an urgency of innovation and staying attuned to industry needs, saying: “The need to update the curriculum of our programs, teaching methodologies, and industry alignment is not just a goal; it’s an obligation.”
Meanwhile, Christine Joyce Carlos, Chair of the BS Data Science program, presented the BSDS curriculum, while Dr. Rolaida Sonza, faculty member of the MSIT program, shared the program structure and innovations behind the MSIT curriculum.
Dr. Khavee Agustus Botangen, Department Head of CLSU-DIT, expressed his gratitude for the valuable exchange.
“Kami po ay nagpapasalamat sa NEUST for this opportunity na mabigyan kami ng pagkakataon na masilip ang mga programs niyo na related sa aming departamento,” he said.
Also in attendance were NEUST Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Feliciana Jacoba, along with faculty and staff from the NEUST GS, CICT, and CLSU DIT.
