NEUST joins Asia Pacific Network of SAFE
The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) continues to fortify its internationalization efforts by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Asia Pacific Network for Sustainable Agriculture, Food, and Energy (SAFE-Network) on June 13, 2025, through a virtual conference.
NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo emphasized the transformative nature of this agreement, stating that this MOU will bear witness to “our joint efforts to build a long-term agreement and further advance our partnership and support for each other.”
“I would like to assure you of our commitment to continue leveraging the internationalization initiatives of NEUST by connecting with distinguished institutions abroad, like the Asia Pacific Network of SAFE,” said President Jugo.
Having built numerous partnerships across various industries, the President said that what sets this collaboration apart “is that it’s not just about our institutions, but more about people. It is about students who will learn from each other, researchers who will work together to find answers, and communities that will benefit from each other’s ideas.”
The partnership aims to tackle the urgent global challenges of promoting sustainable agricultural practices, securing food systems in the face of climate change, and advancing the shift to renewable energy sources.
Meanwhile, Dr. Novizar Nazeer, International Coordinator of SAFE-Network Asia Pacific, said that the MOU is not only the beginning of a formal partnership but also a shared commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture, food, and energy systems in our region and beyond.
“Through this MOU, we look forward to realizing joint research initiatives, faculty and student mobility programs, international conferences, and community best practices that will bring mutual benefit to our institutions and the wider society,” said Dr. Nazeer.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by key officials from both institutions, including Atty. Eric Claudio, Director of NEUST Office of International Affairs; Dr. Franklin Dumayas, Director, NEUST Gabaldon Campus; Prof. Adiza Dela Cruz, Dean, College of Agriculture; Dr. Ravindra Joshi, SAFE-Network Coordinator for the Pacific Islands; and Dr. Nurul Huda, SAFE-Network Coordinator for Malaysia.
The SAFE-Network is a consortium of universities, colleges, and organizations dedicated to promoting sustainable solutions in agriculture, food production, and energy across the Asia Pacific through collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
