The Institute of Linguistics and Literature (IOLL) at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) hosted “AKDAAN: Crafting Words, Weaving Stories,” a literary seminar held on June 28, 2025, at Wright Hall, Mini Convention Center, Sumacab Campus.
The event gathered Filipino and English educators, along with student writers, to enhance creative writing skills and teaching methods.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Marilou Pascual, Director of NEUST Training Services Department, emphasized the vital role of institutional support in cultivating a thriving literary culture, underscoring literature as a cornerstone of both education and national identity.
The program featured lectures by DLSU faculty, with Dr. Evelyn Antonio exploring dagli β a literary form capturing fleeting human experiences β while Prof. Gerome Nicolas Dela PeΓ±a emphasized introspection and critical thinking in essay writing (sanaysay).
AKDAAN combined creative writing workshops with pedagogical discussions, encouraging participants to refine their craft and explore writing as a tool for advocacy.
Organized by Dr. Rommel Espejo, Director of IOLL, in partnership with Dr. Ramilito Correa, Associate Professor at De La Salle University (DLSU) and AKDAAN Coordinator, the seminar was a collaborative effort between DLSUβs Departamento ng Filipino, NEUSTβs IOLL, and the NEUST Training Department.
