Top officials from the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) participated in the opening ceremony of the 2025 Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Midterm Convention and General Assembly held on July 9 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
Gathering more than 1,000 delegates from 113 SUCs nationwide, the convention centered on the collective mission to advance innovation, sustainability, and excellence across the countryโs public higher education system.
Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, PASUC President and President of Batangas State University, delivered a comprehensive report on PASUCโs milestones from the past year, highlighting transformative strides in leadership, innovation, partnerships, and responsive development.
Keynote speakers, including Department of Budget and Management Secretary Hon. Amenah Pangandaman, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Hon. Marita Canapi, CHED Chairperson Hon. Shirley Agrupis, and Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II) Executive Director Dr. Karol Mark Yee, addressed pressing issues in higher educationโfrom budget reforms and governance to digital transformation and future-proofing SUCs through policy innovation.
Representing NEUST were University President Dr. Rhodora Jugo, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Feliciana Jacoba, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Dr. Jean Guillasper, Planning and Development Director Dr. Kenneth Armas, Alumni and Placement Director Dr. Filip Carlo Bolisay, and HRMO III Jenna Kristel M. Illustre.
The convention runs until July 11, featuring expert-led plenary sessions and panel discussions on internationalization, science and innovation, AI-readiness, digital governance, and workforce developmentโ geared toward building globally competitive and sustainability-driven SUCs.
