The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) – Region III, successfully conducted a five-day Python Programming Essential Course at the NEUST Sumacab Campus.
This training marked the first official activity under NEUST’s DICT Digital Transformation Center (DTC) Level 4 facility, aimed at building the digital capabilities of its educators.
Organized for the members of the NEUST Emerging Technologies- Programming team, the training sought to enhance participants’ technical proficiency in emerging technologies through an introduction to Python programming—one of the most widely used programming languages in the ICT sector.
In her message, Dr. Jean Guillasper, NEUST Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, emphasized the importance of equipping educators with essential skills in programming and technology.
“Python isn’t just a programming language; it is a powerful tool that unlocks possibilities in data analysis, artificial intelligence, automation, and web development. More than learning syntax and commands, you are developing a mindset of logic, precision, creativity, and problem solving that are considered skills which are very crucial across all industries and disciplines today,” she said.
Meanwhile, Engr. Conrado P. Castro Jr., Provincial Head of DICT Nueva Ecija, underscored the need for continuous learning among educators in digital literacy and programming:
“Sa education talaga, dapat continuous learning, dapat mag-gain ng maraming knowledge. Sabi nga namin, dapat walang maiwan, walang iwanan sa digital bayanihan.”
Leading the sessions was Ronaldin Bauat, Assistant Professor III from NEUST’s College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT), who delivered hands-on instruction throughout the course.
