The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), through its Health Services Unit (HSU), in collaboration with the Central Luzon Pediatric Society and the NEUST Laboratory High School, conducted a seminar titled โ€œDiscover Monkeypox (Mpox)โ€ on July 15, 2025, at the Doรฑa Asuncion G. Romulo Memorial Hall (DAGRMH), General Tinio Campus, Cabanatuan City.

The seminar provided students and faculty with information on the nature, symptoms, transmission, treatment, and prevention of Monkeypox (Mpox)– a viral disease that has been reported in various regions globally.

Dr. Feliciana P. Jacoba, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Maria Fe R. Blas, Principal of the NEUST Laboratory High School, highlighted the importance of studentsโ€™ participation in the said lecture.
โ€œShare what you learn from this seminar with your peers, friends, family, and communityโ€”the more people know, the more we can help prevent the spread of monkeypox,โ€ said Dr. Jacoba.
Meanwhile, the guest lecturer, Dr. Lesley Ann C. Dela Cruz, Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist from Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, presented the clinical aspects of MPOX, including its symptoms, modes of transmission, prevention measures, and the importance of early identification and response.
An open forum followed the lecture, where students and faculty members asked questions and discussed the topic further.
