Teaching personnel from Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) participated in a two-day Faculty Retooling on Test Construction and Asynchronous Module Writing from July 17-18, 2025, at the Mini-Convention Center, Sumacab Campus.
The training, organized by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) and the College of Education, aimed to enhance educators’ skills in developing high-quality assessments and asynchronous learning materials to improve student outcomes.
University President Dr. Rhodora Jugo emphasized the importance of empowering faculty, stating that educators must “teach properly, instill values, and demonstrate compassion.”
VPAA Dr. Feliciana Jacoba highlighted the need for continuous professional development to adapt to evolving educational demands.
The first part of the training focused on test construction, featuring Dr. Christopher Vergara’s comprehensive lecture on Strategic Test Planning: Building a Table of Specifications (TOS), followed by Dr. Aivin Balquedra’s discussion on Fundamentals of Test Construction: Demystifying and Rewriting Vague Questions, and concluding with Joel Alvarez’s insights on Making Assessment that Works: Validity, Reliability, and Item Analysis.
The second part centered on asynchronous module writing, beginning with Darwin Andres’ session on Engaging Learners Through Structured, Discipline-Specific Module Content, followed by Pauline Joy Tardaguila’s exploration of Designing Logical and Interactive Modules for Asynchronous Classes, Dr. Luijim Jose’s discussion on Upholding Ethical Integrity in Discipline-Based Module Design, and concluding with Reynaldo Ilumin’s strategic guidance for the Assessment Process of Asynchronous Modules in the ASC Learning Ecosystem.
Dr. Jo Neil Peria, Dean of the College of Education, thanked participants for their commitment to professional growth and assured continued support for faculty development.
