As part of the nationwide observance of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), through its Health Services Unit (HSU), and in partnership with Philippine Red Cross–Nueva Ecija, organized a bloodletting activity titled “Dugong Alay, Sagip Buhay” on September 12, 2025, at the Mini Convention Center, NEUST Sumacab Campus.
In line with the anniversary celebration, the Civil Service Commission highlights its long-standing tradition of honoring the establishment of the Civil Service in 1900, which is observed every September.
In support of this commemoration, the activity was carried out with the assistance of partner organizations, including the Nueva Ecija Medical Society (NEMS) led by its President, Dr. Rommel Irabagon, the NEUST HSU headed by Dr. Margarita Belinda Gamilla, the Philippine Red Cross–Nueva Ecija Blood Services led by Rudell De Guzman, and the NEUST College of Nursing through the College Red Cross Youth Council.
Blood donations were provided by NEUST faculty members, staff, and students, resulting in the collection of 95 bags of blood.
Acknowledging the importance of this initiative, De Guzman expressed appreciation to NEUST for consistently conducting bloodletting activities, stating, “Malaking bagay po yung na [do]donate nila na nai-[co]contribute natin sa mga patients dito sa Nueva Ecija,” and underscored that such efforts significantly strengthen healthcare support for the province.
