The Level 4 – Phase 2 AACCUP accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Criminology, and the Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration concluded on September 25, 2025, through a hybrid exit conference held at the Rico Fajardo Hall, Sumacab Campus.
Dr. Filemon Pamittan, the AACCUP Overall Coordinator for NEUST, shared his positive impressions and feedback on the four curricular programs evaluated.
He highlighted the insights and recommendations provided by the AACCUP accreditation team, and commended the local accreditation task forces and the NEUST Quality Assurance Office for their hospitality, attentiveness, proactiveness, and openness to feedback.
“Your commitment to excellence and dedication to the accreditation process were very evident. You went above and beyond to ensure that our accreditation visit was seamless,” he said.
Dr. Pamittan noted that the University demonstrated a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement, emphasizing the ability of the undergraduate programs to consistently perform well in licensure examinations, and acknowledged that published research outputs are well-aligned with the academic priorities of each college.
He also recognized that the planning process of the graduate program is aligned with QA standards, and highlighted the strong involvement of faculty in research, community service, and international linkages—all of which are mutually reinforcing.
However, Dr. Pamittan encouraged faculty members to continue strengthening their research efforts, collaborate across disciplines to promote inter-disciplinary research, and sustain as well as expand the reach and impact of their extension projects.
In response, Dr. Jocelyn Cruz, Dean of the Graduate School; Dr. Mario Abesamis, Jr., Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Ar. Gregorio L. Villaviza, Jr., Dean of the College of Architecture; and Prof. Christina Virginia Jimmy, Jr., Dean of the College of Criminology, expressed their gratitude to the accreditors for their invaluable insights and constructive feedback.
They assured the AACCUP team that the recommendations for improvement will be carefully considered and addressed, with the goal of further enhancing the quality and academic excellence of their respective programs.
“We acknowledge the areas that need improvement. Your recommendations will be lived and will surely be our guide toward improvement, and will deepen our resolve to deliver a program that is not only compliant but truly transformative,” said Prof. Jimmy, Jr.
Not being able to attend the closing program personally, NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo, through Atty. Bembol Castillo, Vice President for Administration, Business and Finance, conveyed her appreciation and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to quality.
“As we move forward, we at NEUST are ready to take on bigger responsibilities and claim our place on the global stage with clear purpose and determination,” she said. “We affirm NEUST’s dedication to quality and excellence. We do accreditation as proof that we are serious in giving our students a world-class education.”
