NEUST, DENR-FMB strengthen collaboration for forest and landscape restoration
In a significant move to promote environmental conservation, officials from the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Forest Management Bureau (DENR-FMB) convened for a collaborative meeting to discuss the Global Environment Facility (GEF) 6 Forest and Landscape Restoration (FLR) Project in the Pantabangan–Carranglan Watershed Forest Reserve (PCWFR).
Held at the President’s Conference Room, NEUST General Tinio Street Campus, the meeting focused on shared goals of restoring degraded forest landscapes, enhancing biodiversity, and promoting sustainable forest management to benefit both the environment and local communities.
Joining Dr. Jugo were key university officials, including Dr. Marilene Hipolito, Director of the Research Department; Dr. Mario Abesamis, Jr., Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; and Dr. John Rey Quinones, Head of the Center for Environmental Research, along with CAS faculty and staff.
Representing DENR-FMB were Mr. Casimiro Olvida, FLR Specialist; Mr. Jandie Reyes, FLR Financial Specialist; Ms. Gay Bañez, Enterprise Development Specialist; and Mr. Leonardo Alipio, FLR Regional Project Coordinator.
Both NEUST and DENR-FMB expressed plans to formalize their partnership in advancing research-based environmental conservation initiatives.
This collaboration underscores NEUST’s active involvement in achieving national and global targets for climate action, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.
