NEUST, DICT, and LGU Rizal unite for digital government symposium

In a collaborative effort to modernize public service, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Rizal for a symposium on digital transformation titled “Building Ethical, Productive, and Future-Ready LGU Workforce through Digital Transformation,” held on October 3, 2025 at the Pag-asa Gym in Barangay Poblacion Norte.

The symposium provided training on essential digital topics, including the principles of e-Government for efficient and accessible public services, the use of digital tools for enhanced productivity, the role of Artificial Intelligence in governance, and a major emphasis on the ethical and responsible use of technology in public service.

Dr. Ruth Ann Santos, head of the NEUST Community Learning Resource Center (CLRC), emphasized the necessity of continuous learning, stating that digital skills and ethical leadership are essential for a modern government workforce.

Mayor Hanna Katrina Andres of LGU Rizal thanked NEUST and DICT for their ongoing support in training municipal employees, while Vice Mayor Rafaelito Andres acknowledged the value of such initiatives for keeping the local government competitive.

Experts from DICT and NEUST’s College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT), including Angelito Cunanan, Jr. and Prince Mert Nicolas, served as the main speakers for the event, which was also supported and facilitated by NEUST CICT faculty members Dr. Ruth Luciano, Dr. Racquel Pula, Emilsa Bantug, and Henry Roque.

The activity was part of the celebrations for the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.
