The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), through its Office of the Management Information Systems (MIS), in partnership with DVCode Technologies, Openguild, and Polkadot, launched the Blockchain Research and Development Bootcamp on October 4, 2025, at the TechnoHub, Sumacab Campus, Cabanatuan City.

 

The hybrid training series, scheduled over three consecutive Saturdays, aims to introduce NEUST faculty and students to blockchain programming and its applications in academic research, curriculum development, and institutional innovation.

 

The launch was attended by faculty and students from various campuses, with Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Dr. Jean Guillasper expressing full support for the MIS-led initiative as part of the university’s broader digital transformation efforts.

 

The first session featured an introduction to Polkadot and Openguild, overviews of the Road to Sub0 and Builder Programs, hands-on demonstrations on smart contract development, and a community discussion.

 

Resource speakers Patricia Arro Krajger, Core Contributor of Openbuild/Polkadot, and Eliezer Rabadon, CEO of DVCode Technologies Inc., led the technical sessions and shared insights on blockchain’s real-world applications.

 

In his message, MIS Director Dr. Marlon Torres emphasized that the bootcamp is part of NEUST’s long-term vision of becoming a smart university by embracing emerging technologies. He introduced the acronym “ABC” to represent the university’s digital innovation priorities—Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, and Cybersecurity.

 

Dr. Torres added that the day’s focus was research and development, particularly in helping students integrate blockchain into their capstone projects. He encouraged participants to move beyond basic system design and explore meaningful applications of blockchain in building innovative, future-ready solutions.

 

The next two sessions of the bootcamp will be held online on October 11 and 18.
