NEUST launches Mandarin language training series “ILADA”

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) inaugurated the “ILADA: Mandarin Language Training” program on October 8, 2025, at the Rico Fajardo Hall, Sumacab Campus.

The eight-session training series, facilitated by Professor Yang Xin from the Confucius Institute in China, will be held throughout October on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, and is being undertaken by 40 selected faculty, staff, and students.

The curriculum will cover foundational Mandarin skills, including Pinyin, basic greetings, self-introduction, and vocabulary pertinent to daily routines, school activities, and classroom instruction.

According to Dr. Rommel Espejo, Director of the Institute of Linguistics and Literature (IOLL), the program aims to equip participants with essential Mandarin skills to enhance their personal and professional growth through interactive lessons, cultural insights, and practical applications.

ILADA, or the Intercultural Learning and Academic Development Alliance, is an initiative led by IOLL’s Dr. Walter Salva that promotes an interdisciplinary approach to language education.

The program is sponsored by NEUST through the Office of International Affairs and the Institute of Linguistics and Literature, in collaboration with Bulacan State University.
