Aiming to foster ethical AI integration and prepare educators and students to utilize AI for innovation, inclusion, and sustainable development, the NEUST Graduate School conducted an Artificial Intelligence Training Workshop at the Technohub Building, NEUST Sumacab Campus.
In her message, Dr. Rolaida Sonza, Officer-in-Charge and Program Chair of the Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) emphasized the importance of advancing knowledge and competence in AI, highlighting that the workshop aimed to deepen understanding of AI not merely as a tool but as a transformative force shaping industries, education, and society.
โWe must equip ourselves with the knowledge and skills to harness AI for innovation, inclusion, and sustainability,โ she said.
The training proper was led by Dr. Rodolfo Raga and Dr. Armida Salazar, who discussed the AI for Good initiative and Large Language Models (LLMs).
Dr. Salazar emphasized that the workshop was not merely an academic requirement but an opportunity for professional and regional development, benefiting not only individual learners but the entire Central Luzon community.
She reiterated, โWe must equip ourselves with the knowledge and skills to harness Artificial Intelligence for innovation, inclusion, and sustainability.โ
Both speakers highlighted that the trainingโs primary goal was to strengthen participantsโ understanding of AIโnot just as a technical tool, but as a transformative force driving progress across various sectors.
The event concluded with a series of workshops that tested the participantsโ knowledge of AI concepts and applications.
The workshop was attended by students from the Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program with specializations in System Development and Data Science.
