The NEUST Gender and Development (GAD) Office conducted an in-house research presentation on October 17, 2025, at Nieto Hall, NEUST Sumacab Campus, showcasing the university’s commitment to gender equality and inclusive academic research.
Dr. Marilou Pascual, Director of the NEUST Training Department, emphasized that Gender and Development (GAD) is not merely a compliance requirement but an ongoing advocacy that calls for awareness, sensitivity, and concrete action. “Gender and development is not just a compliance requirement—it is a continuing advocacy that calls for awareness, sensitivity, and action,” she stated.
Dr. Pascual also highlighted the importance of integrating gender perspectives in teaching, research, extension, and governance, encouraging everyone to reaffirm their commitment to building a gender-fair and inclusive NEUST community.
The panel of evaluators included Dr. Rosemarie Casimiro, Program Chair for Research and Extension of the College of Public Administration and Disaster Management, and Dr. Vilma Ramos, Chair of the Public Administration Program of the Graduate School and Head of the Regional Center for Indigenous Peoples Education.
Presenters from various NEUST campuses and colleges shared their research works centered on gender inclusivity for global progress, contributing to the growing body of knowledge on gender-responsive development.
The event concluded with the awarding of winners, where Dr. Jonathan Mañas, PhD, RPsy, was hailed as Best Paper (1st Place) for his study titled “The Work-Life Balance of Female Lecturers-on-Hourly Basis,” followed by Cris Norman Olipas (2nd Place) and Krissina Posadas and Mark Ren D. Villaflor (3rd Place);.
At the same time, for the Best Presenter category, Cris Norman Olipas took 1st Place, Dr. Jonathan Mañas, PhD, RPsy placed 2nd, and Krissina Posadas and Mark Ren Villaflor secured 3rd Place.
