Stakeholders from government agencies, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector convened to co-create solutions for urban greening, renewable energy, and carbon market development in a convergence organized by the Climate Change Commission (CCC) and Rizal Technological University (RTU) on October 24, 2025, held at RTU.
As one of the academic partners, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) took part in the formalization of climate action partnerships, particularly in the area of post-processing and research collaboration in support of the country’s carbon market development and renewable energy initiatives.
This collaboration reflects NEUST’s continuing efforts to integrate scientific research and technological innovation toward sustainable urban transformation.
Representing NEUST President, Dr. Rhodora Jugo, was Atty. Bembol Castillo, the Vice President for Administration, Business and Finance, highlighted NEUST’s commitment to integrating sustainability principles into education, research, and community extension programs.
“As we collectively pursue the vision of a climate-resilient, low-carbon Philippines, NEUST stands ready to serve as a steadfast partner—committed to knowledge generation, innovation, and advocacy,” said Atty. Castillo.
“We believe that through shared purpose and sustained collaboration, we can nurture a greener, cleaner, and more resilient future for generations to come,” he added.
Accompanying him was Dr. John Rey Quiñones, Head of the NEUST Environmental Compliance and Management Unit, who emphasized that the University continues to mobilize its faculty, staff, and students as champions of environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
Present at the event were key officials, including CCC Commissioner Albert Dela Cruz, Sr.; RTU President Dr. Ma. Eugenia Yangco; MMDA Undersecretary Frisco San Juan, Jr.; Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Assistant Secretary Virgilio Lazaga; and representatives from the participating private sector and academic institutions.
