The College of Management and Business Technology (CMBT) Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) program, through the Bar and Beverage Management with Laboratory subject, conducted a bartending and coffee-making seminar for 4th-year hospitality management students on November 20, 2025, at NEUST Sumacab Nieto Hall.
In her welcome remarks, Dr. Ma. Cecilia Reyes, HM Area Chair, highlighted the seminar as a practical eye-opener beyond classroom lectures.
βThis seminar is not just another lecture β itβs your passport to the reality of Hospitality Management,β she said.
Mr. Bennett John A. Facardo led the coffee-making session, sharing his journey from graphic designer to passionate barista and entrepreneur.
Mr. Facardo emphasized the precision and artistry of espresso making and how the process is therapeutic for him.
“The process of making coffee is very therapeutic for me; it relieves my stress and brings meaning to my work beyond just business,” he said.
Meanwhile, the bartending seminar was led by Ms. Katrina Jane Ramos, who shared her experience from initial reluctance to compete to winning medals and representing regions and countries.
Ms. Ramos highlighted the importance of performance, humility, and technical skills like free pouring and mixology.
“Whether you’re a woman or a man, when you step on the stage, you’re performing. And when you’re done, as soon as you step off the stage, you’re done. You have a place,” she said.
Students also experienced hands-on practice making espresso and cocktails, showcasing the skills they acquired during the sessions.
