The NEUST College of Management and Business Technology (CMBT), in partnership with the Research, Extension, and Training (RET) Office, conducted a capacity-building seminar on Scopus-indexed journal publication for its faculty members.
Held today, January 9, 2026, at Rico Fajardo Hall, NEUST Sumacab Campus, the activity aimed at enhancing the skills of faculty-researchers in producing research outputs and informing them about the university’s publication incentive program.
In her message, Dr. Sarah Alvarez, Dean of CMBT, emphasized that the seminar addresses common challenges faced by faculty members in academic publishing by sharing best practices and real experiences to reduce risks such as high publication costs and uncertain reimbursements.
Meanwhile, Dr. Marilene Hipolito, NEUST Research Director, highlighted the importance of publication.
“Completed research is not the end of our research journey—actually, completing the research is just the beginning. It only becomes relevant when it is published, shared, and used to transform knowledge and communities,” she said.
Served as the resource speaker, Dr. Angelo Santos, Head of the NEUST Local and International Accreditation Unit, advised the participants on strategies to increase their chances of success.
Dr. Santos highlighted persistence, smart journal selection, responsible use of AI tools, and the ability to identify risks as some of the key ingredients in successful publication.
“Publication is both a personal career investment and a collective responsibility to help the university meet productivity and ranking targets,” he noted.
