
The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Nursing (CON) hosted a benchmarking visit by Tomas del Rosario College (TRC) of Balanga City, Bataan, on January 21, 2026, at the CON Audio-Visual Room.
The visit aimed to observe the college’s specialized nursing laboratories, review laboratory management protocols and safety standards, and discuss best practices in clinical simulation and technology-integrated instruction.
Dr. Feliciana Jacoba, VP for Academic Affairs, welcomed the TRC delegation and highlighted NEUST CON’s growth and achievements, including high board exam passing rates and topnotcher performance, as indicators of instructional quality.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jean Guillasper, VP for Research, Extension, and Training and former Dean of CON, shared her experiences as dean and discussed the university’s support in shaping the college’s current status and reputation, emphasizing the factors necessary to maintain high-quality instruction, facilities, and equipment to produce globally competitive graduates.
The TRC delegation was led by Dr. Vicente Lintag, Vice President for Academics, Student Affairs, and Extension Services, and included Dr. Rebecca Appelido, College Dean; Jennifer Mejia, Head of Procurement and Supplies; Aldjem Roque, School Psychometrician and Marketing Officer; and Rochelle Villarias, Student Affairs Coordinator.
NEUST CON faculty and laboratory custodians Jhonee Balmeo and Froilan Diolosa presented the college’s laboratory management protocols, safety standards, and clinical simulation practices, demonstrating systems that ensure an organized and professional learning environment.
They guided the visitors through the Clinical Simulation Rooms, showcasing equipment and instructional strategies while emphasizing the role of hands-on training in preparing competent nursing graduates.
Dr. Zuzette Catabona, CON Dean, expressed hope that the visit would provide valuable insights, address the delegation’s questions, and promote mutual learning through shared practices in nursing education.
On behalf of TRC, Ms. Villarias thanked NEUST CON for its warm reception and for openly sharing its operational practices and teaching methodologies, expressing commitment to ongoing collaboration with NEUST to strengthen the nursing education of both institutions.
Unit heads and program coordinators of NEUST CON, including June Christian Reguyal, Divina Ocampo, Kristhine Abegail Gamiao, Emily Flores, and Mark Denver Manuel, participated in the benchmarking activity.
The benchmarking activity provided an opportunity for NEUST CON to share its facilities, laboratory protocols, and instructional practices with TRC, highlighting the college’s approaches to nursing education and professional training.
