True to its mission of fostering sustainable and inclusive development, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) formally entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Municipal Government of Talavera, Nueva Ecija, on February 6, 2026, at Talavera, Nueva Ecija.
Signed by NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo and Hon. Aries Vincent Patrick Lim, Mayor of Talavera, the agreement signifies both institutions’ commitment to strengthening collaboration in research, extension, and training programs aimed at empowering local communities.
Under the agreement, NEUST and LGU Talavera will jointly implement initiatives anchored on the University’s Globalized Research-based Extension and Training through the Comprehensive Program for Empowerment and Development (GREAT-COPED).
The partnership focuses on the dissemination and transfer of technologies generated from NEUST research, capacity-building activities, and community-based programs that promote socio-economic growth.
Dr. Jugo emphasized that partnerships with local government units are vital in ensuring that the University’s research and extension services translate into tangible benefits for communities.
“As we deep dive into the existence of the University and our partnerships with LGUs, napupuntahan natin ang tunay na mga nangangailangan—doon nagiging masaya tayo, kapag naiangat natin sila sa kanilang kasalukuyang kalagayan,” she said.
Mayor Lim, on the other hand, expressed the local government’s support and readiness to adopt and implement NEUST-led programs within Talavera’s jurisdiction, highlighting the importance of academic–LGU partnerships in addressing community needs through people-centered approaches.
Also present in the ceremonial signing were key officials from NEUST and LGU Talavera, including Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Dr. Jean Guillasper, Extension Services Department Director Dr. Marivic Villegas, Northern Nueva Ecija Off-Campus Director Dr. Marlon Rufino, and NEUST Talavera Off-Campus Administrator Atty. Rocelie Cipriano-Campos.
The signing with LGU Talavera adds to a growing list of institutional partnerships forged by NEUST with various local government units, reflecting the University’s sustained efforts to bridge communities, promote knowledge-sharing, and advance inclusive development across Nueva Ecija and beyond.
