The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), through its College of Education (COED), formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Walailak University (WU), Thailand, on March 4, 2026, at Rico Fajardo Hall, Sumacab Campus.
The partnership reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthen academic linkages and promote mutual understanding through collaboration in teaching, research, cultural activities, and student and faculty exchanges.
Anchored on principles of mutual benefit and common interests, the MOU opens opportunities for joint programs, research initiatives, academic resource sharing, and other collaborative undertakings that will advance global engagement and sustainable development.
In his welcome remarks, Atty. Eric Claudio, PhD, Director of the Office of International Affairs (OIA), expressed appreciation to the delegates from Walailak University and emphasized the importance of building enduring global partnerships.
โThis engagement will not last for just an activity; it will last a lifetimeโuntil we both desire to terminate and probably elevate it into something greater,โ he said, reaffirming NEUSTโs commitment to sustaining meaningful and mutually beneficial international linkages.
In her message, the NEUST Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, Dr. Jean Guillasper, underscored the value of international cooperation in shaping globally competitive and future-ready graduates.
VPRET also extended gratitude to Walailak University for the trust and collaboration as both institutions work toward a shared vision.
โToday marks a meaningful milestone for NEUST, as we formalized our shared commitment through the signing of MOU. We extend our sincere gratitude to the WU for the trust, collaboration, and willingness to work with us toward a common vision,โ she added.
Assistant Professor Dr. Kiki Juli Anggoro, Acting Assistant Dean for International Affairs of Walailak University, likewise conveyed appreciation for the warm welcome extended by NEUST and expressed optimism for the fruitful implementation of joint programs and exchanges.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jo Neil Peria, Dean of the College of Education, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity granted to NEUST to collaborate with Walailak University and affirmed the Collegeโs readiness to implement initiatives under the agreement, particularly in internship and academic exchange programs.
โI am so happy and blessed that with all the universities vying to collaborate with Walailak University, NEUST was given the chance,โ he said.
Among the delegates from Walailak University present during the activity were Asst. Prof. Dr. Kiki Juli Anggoro, Acting Assistant Dean for International Affairs; Ms. Kedkarn Phanwiriyarat, Acting Assistant Dean for Student Affairs; and Student Interns Nasmee Madardam, and Kotchaporn Engchuan.
The visit also includes a student internship engagement scheduled from March 1โ28, 2026, further strengthening experiential learning and cross-cultural collaboration between NEUST and Walailak University.
