The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) received reporter status in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) 2023, according to the report released on September 27.

NEUST was evaluated based on the new WUR 3.0 methodology which includes indicators that measure the universityโ€™s performance across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.

Specifically, THE looked into the following: teaching area measures the learning environment; research environment includes volume, income and reputation; research quality assesses citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence; international outlook measures staff, students and research; and industry evaluates income and patents.

NEUST was one of the 2,673 HEIs that submitted data for THE World University Rankings 2024 from which 769 institutions have been given reporter status.

A โ€œreporterโ€ university is a learning institution that is an active participant in the rankings process and provides data to the Times Higher Education, said David Watkins, THE managing director for data science,

โ€œPractically, this means that they are listed, alphabetically, at the end of the rankings table, and rather than being assigned a rank number, they are instead labelled reporter institutions,โ€ said Watkins.
