Gordon College Benchmarks NEUST’s Student Affairs Programs
The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) shared its best practices in student services with Gordon College during a benchmarking activity held at the Rico Fajardo Hall, NEUST Sumacab Campus, on March 28, 2024.
Leading Olongapo City’s Gordon College delegation was Lovelyn Ceralde, Vice President for Student Welfare and Services, who emphasized their goal of learning from NEUST’s well-established student support systems and identifying areas for improvement within their institution.
In her remarks, NEUST Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Feliciana Jacoba reaffirmed the university’s commitment to holistic student development through enhanced programs and services.
Dr. Ma. Lourdes Quijano, Dean of NEUST’s Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), presented the university’s key initiatives aimed at strengthening student affairs.
Heads of NEUST-OSAS offices and other relevant university departments participated in knowledge-sharing sessions, highlighting best practices in various areas, including student aid programs, mental health support strategies, student publication processes, health programs, registration and admission, culture and arts development, sports development, alumni affairs and placement, student organizations, and leadership frameworks.
As part of the benchmarking activity, the delegation also toured the Sumacab Campus to explore the university’s facilities.
Expressing gratitude for NEUST’s hospitality and valuable insights, VP Ceralde noted that the learnings from the benchmarking activity would contribute to the enhancement of Gordon College’s student programs.
Several NEUST-OSAS heads participated in the event, including Dr. Teodora Luz Mangahas, Head of the Scholarship & Financial Assistance Office (SFAO); Dr. Racquel Pula, Head of the Office of Student Organizations, Activities & Development (OSOAD); Dr. Alfredo Esteban Jr., Head of the Student Publication Office; Mary Claire Calura, Head of the Guidance and Counseling Office; Karen Jann Aquino, Head of the Psychological Testing Office; Jiezel Alcantara, Head of the Student Research and Extension Office; and Dr. Eminiano Manuzon, Overall Adviser of the University Student Government (USG).
Also in attendance were Dr. Melissa Belinda Faronilo, Director of the Office of Admission and Registration (OAR); Prof. Jose Mangahas Jr., Director of the Literary, Culture, and Arts Development Center (LCADC); Dr. Filip Carlo Bolisay, Director of the Alumni Affairs and Placement Office; Dr. Margarita Belinda Gamilla, University Physician; Dr. Consuelo Estigoy, University Librarian; Dr. Vilma Ramos, Head of the Regional Center for Indigenous Peoples Education (ReCIPE), and representatives from the Civil Security Unit (CSU).
Through this benchmarking initiative, NEUST and Gordon College strengthen institutional collaboration, reaffirm their commitment to student welfare and development, and ensure that learners receive quality support systems essential for their academic and personal success.
