To foster international collaboration and academic excellence, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Education (COED) and the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Faculty of Education signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) in a virtual ceremony held on April 21, 2025.

With this partnership, NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo expressed her appreciation to the COED faculty and staff for their proactive role in internationalization efforts and acknowledged the joint efforts of both NEUST and UKM in pursuing meaningful academic collaboration.

“With gratitude, we hope to sustain and expand this collaboration while also witnessing the growth of an intercultural dynamic relationship and global aspirations,” the President stated.

Representing UKM, Dr. Khairul Azhar Jamaludin, Deputy Dean for Industry and Community Network Affairs, delivered a message of support on behalf of the UKM Faculty of Education Dean, Prof. Muhd Mahsan Awang.

“Let this LOI be the first step in a long-term collaboration that fosters global relevance and impact. May this synergy inspire more collaborative efforts that address educational needs. We thank NEUST for your trust and readiness to join hands with us, and we look forward to a fruitful and meaningful journey together.”

The partnership aims to strengthen cooperation in various academic pursuits, including sharing expertise among academicians, publishing in high-impact journals, faculty and student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and other mutually beneficial activities.

Dr. Jo Niel Peria, COED Dean, emphasized the importance of partnerships in advancing education and innovation, saying: “As we strive on this journey of academic exploration and innovation, let us remember that our collaboration efforts have the power to shape the future and impact lives in meaningful ways.”

Meanwhile, Atty. Eric Claudio, Director of NEUST’s Office of International Affairs, highlighted the LOI as a stepping stone toward a more comprehensive partnership.

“We are looking forward to making our Memorandum of Understanding or Agreement on particular activities in which both institutions will endeavor to collaborate in the future. I hope we can start the beginning of a long and lasting partnership between the two institutions,” he said.

The signing ceremony was attended by faculty and staff from both institutions, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasnah Toran, Head of the Centre for Educational and Community Well-being Studies, Dr. Mohd Syazwan Zainal, UKM LOI Coordinator, and faculty members from NEUST COED.
