The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Education โ€“ Laboratory High School, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), showcased its community extension initiatives during the Lingkod Bayan segment of DWNE TeleRadyo on May 13, 2026, at the Provincial Hall Compound in Palayan City.

The program featured NEUSTโ€™s continuing efforts in empowering communities through sustainable and research-based extension programs.

Representing the University were Dr. Marivic Villegas, Dr. Emmanuel Joy Cleto, Dr. Reynaldo Cabual, Ms. Judilyn Nakamura, Dr. Lorenzo Gabriel, and Mr. Benjie Garcia, who presented the Universityโ€™s flagship extension initiatives.

Among the programs highlighted was BakerShift 1.0, which focuses on bread and pastry production training, health advocacy, and entrepreneurial skills development; and BakerShift 2.0, which advances participantsโ€™ competencies in baking toward business development and product marketing.

Also featured was Myko Negosyo, a mushroom enterprise initiative promoting food security, livelihood opportunities, and sustainable mushroom cultivation, and Project GLAM, which develops youth skills in grooming, personality development, leadership, and aesthetic mentorship.

The segment also underscored the ongoing partnership between NEUST and DSWD in addressing community needs through technical assistance, resource-sharing, monitoring, and intervention programs aimed at strengthening sustainable livelihoods and social preparedness.

In recognition of these initiatives, NEUST was nominated by DSWD as an Outstanding Partner Agency at the national level for the prestigious Gawad Sulong Awards, affirming the Universityโ€™s commitment to public service, community empowerment, and sustainable development.
