To strengthen its role in advancing smart and sustainable communities, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) received funding support for Project ANGELA (Transforming Urban Mobility with Care and Innovation in Science City of Muñoz) during a ceremonial turnover held on July 14, 2026, at the NEUST Metals and Engineering Innovation Center, Sumacab Campus.

Implemented under the Smart and Sustainable Communities Program (SSCP), Project ANGELA is envisioned as NEUST’s strategic response to the growing global fuel crisis by developing science-driven solutions that reduce dependence on conventional fossil fuels, promote sustainable transportation systems, and transform urban mobility through smart, people-centered, and innovative technologies.

The funding support was formally turned over by DOST–Nueva Ecija Provincial Director Dr. Leidi Mel Sicat to Dr. Jean Guillasper, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, reaffirming the strong partnership between the Department of Science and Technology and NEUST in advancing research-driven solutions for sustainable development.

The project reinforces NEUST’s commitment to research, innovation, and community development by developing sustainable technologies that address pressing societal challenges and contribute to the country’s transition toward smarter and greener mobility systems.

The turnover ceremony was attended by Dr. Marlon Torres, Director of the Management Information System; Marcelo Bulalayao, OIC Dean of the College of Industrial Technology; and key faculty members and staff involved in the implementation of Project ANGELA.
