To strengthen its role in advancing smart and sustainable communities, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) received funding support for Project ANGELA (Transforming Urban Mobility with Care and Innovation in Science City of Muñoz) during a ceremonial turnover held on July 14, 2026, at the NEUST Metals and Engineering Innovation Center, Sumacab Campus.

Implemented under the Smart and Sustainable Communities Program (SSCP), Project ANGELA is envisioned as NEUST’s strategic response to the growing global fuel crisis by developing science-driven solutions that reduce dependence on conventional fossil fuels, promote sustainable transportation systems, and transform urban mobility through smart, people-centered, and innovative technologies.

The funding support was formally turned over by DOST–Nueva Ecija Provincial Director Dr. Leidi Mel Sicat, representing DOST Regional Office III Regional Director Dr. Julius Caesar Sicat, to NEUST President Dr. Rhodora  Jugo, who was represented by Dr. Jean Guillasper, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training. The turnover reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) in advancing research-driven solutions for sustainable development. 

The project reinforces NEUST’s commitment to research, innovation, and community development by developing sustainable technologies that address pressing societal challenges and support the country’s transition toward smarter, greener, and more sustainable mobility systems. 

The turnover ceremony was attended by Dr. Marlon Torres, Director of the Management Information System and a member of the research team; Mr. Marcelo Bulalayao, OIC Dean of the College of Industrial Technology; Dr. Ronnie Juliano, Project Leader; and Dr. Nicko Tagle, Assistant Project Leader of Project ANGELA.

Project ANGELA is implemented under the Renewable Energy and Vehicle Innovation for Energy (REVIVE) Security Program of the Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC), headed by Engr. Nathaniel Oliveros, Head of MEIC.
