In support of the annual Nutrition Month celebration, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), through its Health Services Unit (HSU), conducted a series of educational and wellness-centered activities anchored on this year’s theme, “𝘕𝘶𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘺𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘒𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘯, 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 P𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘢𝘯.”

The celebration began with a Poster Making Contest held on July 23, 2026, at Nieto Hall, Sumacab Campus. The activity highlighted students’ creativity and advocacy in promoting health and environmental awareness. The top three winners all came from the College of Nursing: Angellei Padua won first place, Megan Kayla Nilo placed second, and Bizzy Wayne Pineda finished third.

As part of the culminating activities, a Nutri Quiz was conducted on July 30, 2026, at the College of Medicine Audio-Visual Room, Gen. Tinio Campus. The competition gathered 11 teams, each composed of three student representatives from their respective colleges or departments, accompanied by their mentors or advisers.

Participants competed in three rounds: an Easy Round with 10 questions worth one point each, a Moderate Round with 10 questions worth three points each, and a Difficult Round consisting of 10 questions worth five points each.

Emerging as champion was San Isidro Campus, which earned 79 points through the efforts of Kaneesha Zyra Alcazar, Gian Carl Montales, and Almira Joyce Garcia. The Gen. Tinio Laboratory High School secured second place with 74 points, represented by Yvo Gabriel Angel, Kae Arabelle Sarmiento, and Jade Nicole Gonzales. The College of Nursing finished third with 71 points, represented by Katrine Joy Bondoc, Megan Kayla Nilo, and Rein Clark Serrano.

On the same day, a Zumba Competition was held at the Doña Asuncion G. Romulo Memorial Hall, promoting physical fitness and active participation among students and university personnel. This event was graced by Dr. Dennis Raymond Salazar, President of the Nueva Ecija Medical Society.

Special awards recognized outstanding participants in various categories. Mark John Dalope (OSAS) and Joan Ybardaloza (Office of the Board Secretary) were named Mr. Zumba and Ms. Zumba, respectively. Genalin Marquez (HRMO) received the Best in Zumba Attire award, while Ann Leslie Pesigan (COA) was recognized for Most Radiant Smile.

In the Most Energetic category, awardees were Fernando Canonigo (CSU) and Alma Galang (GAD)for the Senior Category; Rey Pineda and Henry Pineda (BMGS), Ronelia Santos (LHS), Cherry Arcillo (Records Office), Mary Jane Espiritu (LHS), and Hazel Mina (IAS) for the Middle Age Category.

Meanwhile, Christian Tumampus (HRMO) was named Mr. Body Beautiful, while Jea-ann Parañal (BSIT) received the Ms. Body Beautiful award.

Through these activities, the NEUST Health Services Unit reaffirmed its commitment to promoting holistic well-being by integrating proper nutrition, physical activity, and environmental awareness among students, faculty, staff, and the wider university community.
