The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) kicked off its observance of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) on September 14, 2026, at Heroes Park, Sumacab Campus, marking the beginning of a series of activities that will run through the end of the month.
The opening program centered on the responsibilities that come with public service. The succeeding activities will provide employees with opportunities to participate in programs focusing on health and wellness, professional development, recognition, and workplace responsibility.
During the program, NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo emphasized that government work extends beyond the duties assigned to each employee, noting that public service also carries a responsibility to the people who rely on government institutions.
“Ang mga trabaho ay hindi lamang para sa ating sarili, kundi para rin sa mga taong umaasa sa kalidad ng ating paglilingkod. Bawat kawani, lingkod-bayan, lingkod-bayani—puso, dangal, at galing para sa bayan. Ang puso, dangal, at galing ay hindi lamang mga salitang magandang pakinggan; ito ay mga prinsipyong dapat makita sa paraan ng ating pagtatrabaho at pagseserbisyo sa ating mga kababayan.”
Carrying this emphasis on service into the succeeding activities, the University will hold a bloodletting activity on September 17 at the NEUST San Isidro Campus. The activity will be facilitated by the NEUST Health and Services Unit (HSU).
The observance will shift its focus to access to government services on September 24, when a Government One-Stop Shop will be held at the Mini-Convention Center, Sumacab Campus. The activity will bring together representatives from PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, GSIS, SSS, LANDBANK, PRC, PSA, and other partner agencies to provide services to NEUST faculty members, staff, and students.
Complementing the Government One-Stop Shop on the same day will be the Employees’ Health and Wellness Day and Pampering Session. Conducted in partnership with the Faculty and Staff Union (FSU), the activity is intended exclusively for NEUST employees.
The observance will also address workplace responsibility through a face-to-face seminar on safe spaces and anti-sexual harassment on September 25 at the University Closed Gym, Sumacab Campus. Atty. James Lee Cundangan, Assistant Solicitor General, will serve as the resource speaker.
On September 28, the University will hold the Joint PRAISE Awarding and Tribute to Retirees at the Mini-Convention Center, Sumacab Campus. The activity will be conducted in partnership with the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit and the PRAISE Committee.
Meanwhile, newly hired employees will be introduced to the University through the Yamang Katauhan Alay sa Pamantasan (YAKAP) General Orientation on September 29. The NEUST Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) will conduct the orientation at the Mini-Convention Center, Sumacab Campus.
The observance will conclude on September 30 with a face-to-face seminar at the Sumacab Campus, facilitated by the College of Medicine. The seminar will feature Atty. Antonio Alejandro Rebosa, MD, who will discuss the legal and ethical boundaries of inappropriate conduct in the academic workplace for NEUST faculty members.
Through these activities, NEUST continues to provide avenues for its employees to strengthen their professional responsibility, attend to their well-being, access essential government services, and receive recognition for their contributions to public service.
