The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) Chorale was hailed as First Runner-Up in The Voice of ASEAN: The Central Luzon Premier Chorale Competition during the awarding ceremony held on September 14, 2026, at Hotel Seoul, Clark City, Pampanga.

The NEUST Chorale performed “Katakataka,” arranged by Emmanuel Laureola, and “True Colors,” arranged by Saunder Choi, during the competition.

Led by Mr. Aldrich Batalla, the group comprises 10 choir members: Arliza Ria Pajigar, Angelica Grace De Guzman, Jessica Diaz, Shaina Munar, Angelica Joven, Jomarie Parungao, David Ether Dela Cruz, Gian Cruz, Graenald Batalla, and Jayson Godoy.

The competition served as one of the highlights of TANGLAW Central Luzon 2026, an initiative of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III (CHEDRO III) in celebration of ASEAN Month, which aims to promote cultural appreciation, regional cooperation, and unity among higher education institutions in Central Luzon.

Aside from securing the First Runner-Up title, the NEUST Chorale also received the People’s Choice Award, Best Conductor, Best A cappella Arrangement, and Best Cultural Presentation awards.

In an interview, NEUST Director for the Literary, Culture, and the Arts Development Center (LCADC) Mr. Jose Mangahas, Jr. commended the group for its dedication and continued commitment to representing the University through music.

“Ang tagumpay na ito ay patunay ng inyong taos-pusong paglilingkod sa musika, sakripisyo sa bawat ensayo, at walang sawang pag-akyat ng antas para sa ating mahal na Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST),” said Mr. Mangahas, Jr.

The recognition adds to the NEUST Chorale’s participation in cultural and artistic activities that provide opportunities for the University community to showcase Filipino music and talent in the regional arena.
